Project Overview The Muslim Widows' Housing Construction Project is a humanitarian initiative of Zunairah Islamic Charity Organization Uganda (ZICO Uganda) dedicated to providing safe, decent, and permanent homes for vulnerable Muslim widows and their children across Uganda. The project aims to restore dignity, security, and hope to widows who are living in unsafe, overcrowded, or temporary shelters due to poverty, loss of a spouse, natural disasters, or other hardships. Many Muslim widows struggle to provide adequate housing for their families, often living in dilapidated structures that expose them to harsh weather, illness, insecurity, and social vulnerability. Guided by the Islamic values of mercy, compassion, and social responsibility, ZICO Uganda works with donors, local leaders, and communities to construct simple, durable, and affordable homes that provide a safe environment where widows and their children can live with dignity. The project not only builds houses but also empowers widows by connecting them with livelihood opportunities, social support services, Islamic guidance, and community development programmes that help them achieve long-term self-reliance. Project Goal To improve the living conditions and well-being of vulnerable Muslim widows by constructing safe and sustainable homes while promoting dignity, family stability, and economic empowerment.
